Mingling with the Elders

Today we mingled with the Elders attending the Paddle to Squaxin 2012 event. We had never attended a Travel Journey event before but I had heard great things about them. I found it to be awe inspiring, spirit-filled and powerful. Over 70 canoes arrived in Budd Inlet midday from distant shores and as far away as Canada. Their journey has taken them days or weeks. Each canoe waited their turn to be given permission to come ashore. The host and the guest tribes greeted each other with reverence, graciousness and a bit of humor. The collective energy of their effort to paddle the distance, the anticipation of the week long potlatch about to begin sizzled through the air. It was exhilerating! The spirit of the Elders mingled with those with an open heart.

May this generous spirit be reflected to all.

Reflections of Summer

Today I am taking a day of rest from burying three-man rocks and clearing blackberry canes from the pasture. What an interesting summer it has been. It has been filled with all sorts of lovely things. Here are just a few summer reflections.

My favorite reflection though has to be this one...
